To all our fans – We tried our best but still lost the game to RI
Feb. 15, 2008
I’m going to depart from my usual style of reporting for today’s match to write a personal reflection instead.
Today, everyone gave their all… from the players, to the coach, to the teachers in charge. We tried our best but still lost the game.
We may not have executed very well in some plays… things also did not always go our way… but I’m absolutely proud of how my boys responded and how they fought all the way to last second. Even on the bench, none of the boys gave up but kept supporting and cheering the team till the end.
Key centres Chong Ming Xuan and Wong Kam Seng were sorely also missed during the match as well, after not meeting the standard of the school’s hair check and thus not being allowed to take part in the game.
Of course, credit to the Raffles team, especially Wang Jia Cheng (#15) who scored all the crucial points, especially in the last quarter.
To all the allegations of match fixing, let me state categorically that we do NOT believe nor condone any practices of match fixing, and we have never attempted to do so. We have always believed in giving our best in every match, and that explains why we have kept up the winning streak since 2005.
To all those who thought otherwise, you should have seen the match today where everyone in the Catholic High team fought for every possession and ran and shouted their lungs out.
Furthermore, there has been a strong rivalry between Catholic High and Raffles Institution since well, a long time ago, and there is no reason for us to lose the match to let them through. In fact, all of us hoped to win the match and the team was quite devastated after the game.
Anyway, after all this is said and done, we will move on from this to become stronger and improve for the upcoming matches.

[...] Catholic High was pipped in that exciting game in which RI’s Wang Jia Cheng (#10) had a stellar game. The loss had spurred a host of conspiracy theories and allegations which I debunked in this post! [...]
