New Town dishes out bball lesson 101 to Catholic High

Clementi CC, Wednesday, 29 Oct 08 – A lethargic performance by the Catholic High B Division team saw New Town Sec outlasting them for a 94-84 victory. Captain Lor Weng Siang, a key player from New Town’s previous B Division team was inspirational to his team’s win, scoring crucial baskets and making plays for his teammates.

New Town started the game brightly, jumping to a 28-14 lead. Catholic High seemed ill at ease with a new look zonal defense, and gave up numerous defensive rebounds to the home team for easy baskets.

Singapore Polytechnic outlasts Catholic High in friendly

Singapore Polytechnic, Tue, 21 Oct, 2008 – The Catholic High B Division basketball team began their preparation for next year’s basketball season with a 70-90 loss to Singapore Polytechnic. The older boys showed more strength and fitness down the stretch to win the game.

The game had sparked off to a great start with CH centre Kong Tat scoring a ball, followed by a reverse layup by centre Ming Xuan. SP players soon replied with 2 underbaskets to tie for a lead with CH. With aggressive defence, CH limited SP’s opportunities until the end of the quarter with CH leading 28-13.
