April 12, 2010

Chua Chu Kang Stadium, Monday, 12 April, 2010 – Bryan Koh hurled the javelin 52.37m to earn the gold medal in the B division javelin competition. What’s more, he missed the record by a mere 0.9m!

His nearest competitor, Tan Wen Han from SJI, finished a distant second with a best throw of 46.42m.

Catholic High’s Timothee Yap completed a happy day for his school with a new record of 55.48 seconds in the B division boys 400m Hurdles event. He also garnered the gold medal in the process.

Well done, boys!

    Ian Chew Says:

SAA has their own set of qualifying criteria – which is an average of the athlete’s timings in the SAA-approved competitions.

Unfortunately, the National Inter-school championships are not in their approved competition list; though the Singapore school students train to peak for this particular competition.

I seriously doubt if we can do anything about this situation, given that it has been publicised much in the local media!

Catholic High’s Timothee Yap toppled Singapore YOG provisional squad member Luqman Zamrot of the Singapore Sports School with a new record of 56.48s on route to the top of the podium.

Timothee Yap should replace the athlete he defeated in the upcoming first edition of the Youth Olympic Games.

Maybe your old boy PM Lee can help with the process!
